Bahrain's workforce grew by 8.6% in 2016

Manama : Bahrain's workforce grew by 8.6% per annum in 2016 including nationals and expatriates, Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan has announced.

The minister told Al Ayam daily that the ministry has taken all the necessary measures to ensure the rights of workers. Dismissal cases and late wages complaints were merely individual cases and did not amount to a phenomenon and only natural as the case in other communities elsewhere.

"Workers unions will soon be represented in the General Organization of Social Insurance (GOSI) board of directors in its expected new formation," he added.

The ministry in cooperation with Tamkeen (i.e. the Labour Fund) will transform into practical realty the slogan of "aligning the output of education with the labour market requirements" to finance a bundle of projects including the National Labour Observatory which will monitor workforce, professional standards, plan and trends all of these projects will be launched in 2018.
