China pips UAE, US as top exporter to Bahrain

ManamaChina with exports to the Kingdom valued at around BD135 million pipped the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America as the top trading partner of Bahrain in the first quarter of 2017, according to the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) report released yesterday. 

Closely following China, in this regard, is the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with exports of BD118m, whereas the USA with BD83m is ranked third, the foreign trade report said. 

However, when it comes to importing from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia enjoys the top position with imports of BD141m. The USA is second with BD115m and the UAE is third with BD68m.

The report, for the first quarter of 2017, further states that trade balance, the difference between exports and imports, declined in the value of the deficit reaching an amount of BD399m.

BD1.124bn imports

As per the report, the imports value has reached around BD1.124 billion, with the top ten countries account for 65 per cent of the imports value and 35pc for other
countries. 

The value of the exported national origin has reached approximately BD594m in the first quarter of 2017. The top ten countries account for 85pc of the exported national origin value and 15pc for other countries.

Iron ores top 

As for exported products, agglomerated iron ores and concentrates emerged as the top products exported in first quarter 2017 with BD100m. Aluminium wires were positioned as the second products imported with a value of BD74m and rectangular alloyed aluminium plates stood third for exported products with BD53m.

Four-wheel drive cars 

In regards to the re-exported field, the value has reached BD132m. The top ten countries account for 91pc of the re-exported value and 9pc for other countries. Saudi Arabia was ranked as the first country to re-export from Bahrain with BD55m, China ranked as the second with BD22m, and UAE as the third with BD18m. 

Four-wheel drive cars emerged as the top product re-exported from Bahrain with BD26m, cigarettes came as second products with BD15m, and Sedan cars came as the third with BD6m.
