Building evacuated in Hoora

ManamaThe Capital Municipal Council yesterday evacuated a building on road 1831 and compound 318 in Hoora yesterday.

The evacuation followed the Municipal Council chairman’s visit to the area along with the other council members after the Council received several complaints about the building.

“Our officials inspected the building a few days ago and gave a report. After that we visited the building on Wednesday. We have taken note of the severity of the problem.  Under our supervision,  the tenants are already evacuated,” Chairman of Capital Municipal Council Mohammed Ali Alkhozae told DT News.

Asked what action will be taken further, he said: “The matter is now before the Public Prosecution. Now the court will decide whether to repair or demolish the building,” he said.

Alkhozae has urged the dwellers to stay away from the tilted building which has a large crack.

“The building is a serious threat to the people around the area. We have requested the Public Prosecution to fast track the legal procedure so that the building can be either demolished or repaired to avoid mishaps in the area,” the Capital Municipal Council Chairman added.
