All set for big fat Indian wedding

ManamaThe ‘sangeet’ function of the first big fat Indian wedding in Bahrain is all set to take place at the Ritz-Carlton private island today.

The three-day wedding is of Diya Mehta, daughter of business tycoon and CEO of Rosy Blue, Russell Mehta, and Ayush Jatia, son of business tycoon Amit Jatia, MD of Hardcastle Restaurants (McDonald’s India Franchise).

The couple got engaged in a low-key affair on December 19 last year. The extravaganza being held from April 26 to 28 will have over 1000 guests from India, Belgium, UK, USA and several other countries.

The event is a huge luxurious affair at the private island. Around 250 managers and entertainers are providing support to the event. The romantic and serene villas of the Ritz-Carlton, each laying on 450 sqm surface with stunning interiors and state-of-the-art facilities, have been booked with views of the exquisite Arabian Gulf waters. It will be home to the hosts who have also put up guests at the Royal Suites, Diplomatic Suites and other rooms.

Earlier in the day, the bride’s father, Russell Mehta met His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa along with a group of Indian businessmen, on the occasion of the wedding.

“I must applaud the entire team for making sure that everything is running smoothly as we haven’t shut down other commercial activities at the hotel,” a source at the Ritz Carlton told DT News.

The Four Season Hotel tweeted a couple of days ago that due to the buyout by one of their clients, the hotel will be closed for others on April 26, 27 and 28. Bookings will resume on April 29.

The Indian wedding is expected to position the Kingdom as a ‘Prime wedding destination, with a new ‘Island wedding’ identity.
