Medical tourism: DLS sees reasons to smile

ManamaBahrain has enormous potential to strengthen its position as a preferred destination for health and medical tourists, with the dental sector deserving a special focus, recommended participants of the Dentist’s Lifestyle Conference and Exhibition (DLS 2017).

The recommendations were made during the closing ceremony of DLS 2017, which also hailed the massive support provided by the government to the sector.

DLS viewed that with appropriate legislative structure, qualified local expertise and specialised centres, the Kingdom can easily expand its scope as a tourism destination for orthodontics and dental cosmetics.

The participants, however, warned that all this depends on the establishment of a clear and comprehensive plan capable of attracting big companies, authorities and universities in the medical sector.

The Head of DLS 2017 Organising Committee Dr. Mohammed Shahda said that Bahrain has succeeded in hosting and organising the conference for the second year respectively.

“The conference has also succeeded in attracting 22 regional and international speakers, who presented scientific lectures targeting the dentists”, he added.

Dr. Mohammed Al Aradi, Founder of BDA company commented: “Index Holding Company, which organises the biggest Medical Exhibitions in the region such as Arab Health, was presented for the first time in Bahrain. Moreover, the CEO Dr. Abdulsalam Al Madani has personally attended the event seeking new business opportunities”.

The conference attendees also included the Saudi Dental Society and its President Dr. Fahad Al Shemmari, returning to the Bahraini market after 7 years, and Dental Tribune, the top International Dental magazine.
