APA meeting begins today
Manama : Parliamentarians from all over the world will converge in Bahrain today for a two-day meeting by the Asian Parliamentary Association (APA) to discuss economic and sustainable development strategies.
Bahrain is hosting the two-day standing committee meeting of APA as per the directives given by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Mulla to enhance and activate the role of parliamentary diplomacy.
Over 96 parliamentarians from 21 member states are expected to participate in the meeting, which will focus on energy, environment, poverty, sustainable development and economic growth in Asia.
The meeting will discuss six key bills including: energy market integrations, issues on environment, ensuring consistency of economic growth efforts, poverty eradication and the role of parliaments of the APA in implementing sustainable development goals and ensuring clean water for all.
