Kingdom celebrates World Book Day

ManamaEducation Minister, and Chairman of the Bahrain National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi, inaugurated the “Read” campaign, organised by the ministry’s Public and Technical Education sector, in cooperation with the Isa Cultural Centre and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs at the Al-Khansaa Primary Girls School as part of World Book Day celebrations.

The minister said that the Education Ministry had provided libraries across the kingdom’s public schools with more than half a million books, and the Knowledge Resources Centre with 98,000 books, to encourage students to read, highlighting the importance of reading in acquiring knowledge and in promoting the values of tolerance, co-existence, dialogue and cultural openness.

The minister also opened a three-day celebration organised by the Public Libraries Directorate at the Knowledge Resources Centre in Muharraq with the participation of all its counterparts in the four governorates.
