Shaikh Nasser sets new personal record

ManamaHH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, hit a new personal record in triathlon competitions after posting a time of 04:57 minutes in the Challenge Mogan-Gran Canaria. 

Organised by Challenge Company, the event featured an elite group of 500 athletes, with HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, spearheading the Bahrain National Triathlon Team, finishing third in the event.

Speaking after crossing the finish line, Shaikh Nasser expressed sincerest gratitude and appreciation for the follow-up of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, to the event, stating that HM’s support was decisive in motivating the team and fuelling its members with enthusiasm to achieve honourable results.

It’s worth noting that HH Shaikh Nasser was congratulated by HM the King on the occasion of the new personal record HH set during the event.

Besides Shaikh Nasser, the Bahrain National Triathlon Team composed of Mikel Calahorra, Nawaf Al Dhaen, Salim Al Dossary, Mohammed Al Qees, Ahmed Al Hajj, Ali Janahi, Hamad Al Muraisi, Jamal Al Dossery and Erik. 

The event covered a distance of 113km, spread out over three courses including swimming, cycling and running. Shaikh Nasser completed the swimming race in 35:3 seconds, while HH finished the cycling and running races in 2:50 minutes and 1:32 minutes respectively. It was his first appearance in a Triathlon event held on European soil.  

Furthermore, Shaikh Nasser expressed utmost happiness and pride at the achieved results, praising the team members’ spirit and readiness.  Shaikh Nasser pointed out that the event featured strong competition given the fact that many top athletes participated in the event.
