Manama : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, at the Al-Sakhir Palace yesterday.
HM the King was briefed about the latest security developments, Interior Minister, Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa said after the meeting.
The Interior Minister said King Hamad has directed the ministry to get engaged with international anti-terror agencies as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to fight terror to achieve international security and peace.
Shaikh Rashid said he had followed up the matter with the authorities in Germany and UN against individuals involved in terror activities within the framework of the global solidarity to combat terror acts.
“They mislead individuals in Bahrain and abroad,” the minister said, adding that terrorists pose a danger to families, homeland, and to the lives of the citizens.
‘Fugitives in Iran inciting terror’
The world has become fully aware of the seriousness of terrorist acts, which has led to the international community’s determination to fight those terrorist elements’ and deal with illegal acts more seriously, especially after the actions of those groups had become clear to everyone, he said.
Iran role, fugitives
The Interior Minister has called on Iran not to make its lands a haven for wanted fugitives against whom international arrest warrants had been issued.
The minister said that the wanted fugitives in Iran are still engaged in acts of incitement through the state-backed media outlets in that country, adding that they use the Iranian territories for training, planning terrorist crimes and smuggling weapons, explosives and hazardous materials which are used in committing terrorist crimes aimed at subverting the security and stability of Bahrain and the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
Shaikh Rashid has called on parents and social segments to recognise the nature of those dangers in all their aspects, and to control their children and advise them not to respond to incitement calls that could lead them to be involved in terror acts.
They have also been urged to be aware that there is an international cooperation to combat such illegal acts that the world now rejects and cooperates in order to confront them and clamp down on those who commit them, he added.
Shaikh Rashid stressed that the Ministry of Interior will continue taking all measures against whoever seeks to disrupt the interests of the people and undermine security and public order.
HM the King reviewed with HRH Premier and HRH Crown Prince the main national issues, noting that the current phase requires devising programmes that support and consolidate the national economic march to bring about more achievements and gains for the nation and the citizens.
HM King Hamad affirmed that the next phase requires doubling efforts and continuing focus on development priorities, goals and projects to fulfill the citizens’ aspirations for more prosperity and progress.
HM King Hamad appreciated and thanked HRH the Prime Minister and HRH the Crown Prince for their efforts to improve government performance and action to reach the best levels out of their keenness to ensure that the best services are delivered to the nation, the citizens and residents.
