86 year-old lady flies at Gravity Indoor Skydiving

Manama : Patricia Richardson fulfilled her dream of flying at the age of 86 years old, making her the oldest woman to fly at Gravity Indoor Skydiving, Bahrain! Her courage and love for life and adventure received the admiration of her family, the audience and the entire team at Gravity.
“Every person out there has dreamed of flying and it’s incredible that this can now be achieved through exciting activities such as Indoor Skydiving,” says Patricia.
Patricia is from the United Kingdom and was in Bahrain to visit her son, who has been living here for a few years, and was delighted to find out that he had made plans to get her to try a unique adrenaline fuelled adventure. Patricia enjoys swimming and yoga but has also always had the passion for trying new things, and what better experience to have when visiting Bahrain than to fly in one of the world’s tallest glass wind tunnels?
Patricia describes her experience and adds: “I was approached by a young man who seemed to be from the training team, and asked him if it was possible for a person to fly at my age. He comforted me by handing me my suit and helmet and immediately preparing me for my flight!”
The instructor began to teach Patricia the first lessons of flying after which she was lead inside the waiting chamber.
“I was taken into the tunnel with the guidance of my trainer, and with a signal to his other team member, the wind started to blow beneath us and seconds later I was lifted from the net. I could not believe that I was flying!” she added.
When Patricia landed, everyone around her was absorbed with admiration and surprise.
“It was amazing! I felt completely energized an exhilarated,” she said.
Patricia also said that this experience is a testament to all women and elders that age does not prevent one from enjoying sports and activities and she finally added: “I’ll be back soon, and maybe at the age of 90 I’ll be brave enough to jump out of a plane to skydive!”.
