Road-rage brawl: Four arrested in Hamad Town

Manama : A couple of Bahraini men sustained various injuries after they were involved in a brawl with a group of armed Asian men near Hamad Town on Sunday night.

The incident reportedly occurred in Souq Waqef area, where a group of Asian men hit two Bahrainis using iron rods, following an on-road disagreement .

Several vehicles were also damaged in the brawl which was reported to Northern Hamad Town Police Station on the same night.

Northern Governorate Prosecution Head Mohammed Salah confirmed in statement issued yesterday that four Asian suspects were arrested and were being interrogated by the Public Prosecution.

The official said the defendants confessed to attacking the Bahraini men and claimed that the Bahrainis had verbally insulted them because of a traffic related disagreement.

The prosecution ordered to detain the four men for seven days pending further investigations and to refer them to the concerned court after accusing them of assault and requesting to deport them, in accordance with Article 64 of the Penal Code.

Driver Fight Over Tailgating

In a separate incident, a group of Bahraini youth exchanged blows and punches in the middle of Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway on the same night.

Eyewitnesses informed that the fight erupted when one of the drivers in a minibus was tailgating the other driver.

The men halted the traffic flow on the busy highway for a few minutes, before other drivers intervened.
