International Women’s Day: UCB holds panel discussion

Manama : The University College of Bahrain (UCB) celebrated the International Women’s Day yesterday by hosting a discussion on women who contributed to the society with their talent, persistence and timeless wisdom. 

The panel discussion brought together women speakers with background – social activists and professionals.

 Amal Salman Al Doseri, Vice president of committee on rights of the Child United Nations, Dana Bukhammas Director Human Resources Department – Zain, Khulood AlQattan Board Member of Batelco and Sahar Ataei, Chief Financial Officer Gulf Air formed the group of panelists which engaged in the discussions on women empowerment initiatives. 

The guest speakers from various spheres congratulated the strides in women empowerment and the significant role played by the Supreme Council for Women headed by Wife of His Majesty the King and Chairwoman of Supreme Council for Women HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa.

Amal, who served as Director of Children’s department at the General organisation of youth and sports in the year 2000 shared her roles as a director, and her special plans of action to ensure children’s rights in the coming future. 

Sahar who is also the chairperson of Audit Committee of Bahrain Airport services discussed the challenges and opportunities faced by women in leadership, and talked about the progress that she has been witnessing over the time in various fields by women. 

“Being in the educational system for more than 15 years, it came to my knowledge that many of our women colleagues have shown spectacular performance when compared to men. I would like to thank all the women in our college, who shared their life with us in expanding the prospects of the college to a greater heights,” said Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Founder & Chairman of the Board of Trustees, University College of Bahrain. 

The panel discussion was moderated by UCB Dean of Student Affairs Dr Latika Chaudhary.
