Cop gets jail for assaulting Turkish man
Manama : The High Criminal Court has sentenced a police officer to two months behind bars for assaulting a Turkish man for alleged sexual affair with a Filipino maid.
The verdict issued against him, however, was suspended for a BD100 bail, pending the outcome of his appeal.
The defendant is reported to have been aware of the relationship between the Turkish man and the maid, but on the day of the incident, the police officer nabbed the former in his mother’s house where the Filippino maid was working.
He took him to the police station, where he assaulted him.
He also called his sponsor and ordered him to deport the Turkish man, but the sponsor instead, filed a case against him over the assault.
A medical report confirmed that the defendant was beaten up.
