Hamad wins boys title

ManamaSecond seed Hamad Abdul A’al defeated top seed Yousef Ashraf 6-4, 6-0 to clinch the Boys under 18 years title yesterday of the 22nd Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) Juniors Open Tennis Championship 2017 at the Bahrain Tennis Club (BTC) premises in Juffair.

The opening set began with both players winning their opening service games, followed by three breaks of service as Hamad took an early 3-2 lead and extended it to 4-2 on his service game.

Both players then exchanged breaks of service before Yousef held serve to trail 4-5. 

Hamad was decisive on his service game to wrap up the set 6-4.

The second set started badly for Yousef as found himself 0-3 down after losing a second service game.

Sophie De Boer defeated Maya Bseisu 6-3, 7-6(8) in a well contested Girls 14 years and under final between the two JC’s Academy students as Maya effected two breaks of service early in the first set for a 3-1 lead.

The other titles went to top seed Tristan Manners with a 6-0 games victory over second seed Rushikesh Sonawane in the Unisex 10 years and under. 

Top seed Riyaan Ahmed was a 4-0 games winner against second seed Joshua Jacob in the Unisex 8 years and under category.

The championship, which concluded yesterday was held under the patronage of BBK Chief Executive Officer, Reyadh Yousif Sater.

The event featured around 60 players in three boys and two girls age categories and two Unisex categories with 90 players in the fray.

The finals were attended by The King’s Advisor for Youth and Sport Affairs, HE Saleh Isa bin Hindi Al Mannai,  BBK CEO, Reyadh Yousif Sater and BTC President
Khamis Al Muqla, along with other BBK Officials and BTC officials and club members.
