Sparsh Parmer wins quarters

ManamaHeavy rains allowed only the completion of three matches and a further three were suspended and fourth others postponed on the third day of the 22nd Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) Juniors Open Tennis Championship 2017 yesterday at the Bahrain Tennis Club (BTC) premises in Juffair.

In the quarter finals of the Boys singles 12 years and under, the top seed Sparsh Parmar was a 6-0, 6-4 straight sets winner against Vineesh Mittal, second seed Sai Raghav Balakrishnan eased past Ervin Godinho 6-4, 6-2 and Abdulla Nass got the better of Fares Hajjar 6-3, 6-1.

The remaining quarter final is set for today at 4.30pm between Mohammed Al Shehabi and Mohammed Kamran.

Three matches were suspended due to the rain, in the semi-finals of the Girls singles 18 years and under Sai Rama Balakrishnan was leading 5-4 against top seed Manni Zhang, while Nazley Nader was 15-0 up in the opening game of the first set against second seed Aleina Alex.

In the semi-finals of the Boys singles 14 years and under, top seed Isa Al Essa and Anshuman Sonawane were tied at 30-30 in the opening game. The quarter finals of the Girls singles 14 years and under, all washed out and will be played from 4pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile, BTC is organising a tennis competition from 6pm followed by dinner for members and their guests to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the National Action Charter Day.
