BD 7 health fees : To pay or not to pay?

Manama : When an expatriate check their visa status on Bahrain’s Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) website they will find Healthcare Status either A or B. What does it mean? There are two categories in Health Care Status -A and B.

This is prepared by the Health Ministry for the convenience of Primary Health Centers in determining consultation fees for expatriates.

Government employees, their families and expatriates covered by workers primary healthcare scheme are exempted from paying the fee.

If your status is ‘A’ it means you are covered by new medical insurance plan. ‘B’ means not having medical insurance.

Expatriates who are not having medical insurance will have to pay BD 7 consultation fee per visit now.

LMRA has been collecting Basic Health Care fee for all expatriate employees in all establishments on behalf of Ministry of Health starting January 2015.

Basic Health Care fee will be BD 72.00 per year for each expatriate employee at the time of issue of new visa, renewal and mobility.
