RCSI Bahrain hosts first ‘Alumni Talk’ of 2017

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain) this week welcomed back 2013 graduate, Dr Ali Abdulnabi Mohamed, for the first of edition of its ‘Alumni Talks’ series for 2017.

Bahraini Dr Mohamed presented a lecture to a gathering of more than 60 university staff, students and fellow alumni, entitled: ‘Specialty Training in the UK, Beyond the Foundation Years’, which was organised by the university’s Careers and Alumni Office, in conjunction with the student-run Medics in Leadership Society.

During the lecture, Dr Mohamed focused on topics such as the Academic Clinical Training Scheme; application processes and requirements; GMC requirements and registration; application timeline; prerequisites; mistakes and pitfalls.

Currently working as an Academic Clinical Fellow in Oncology at the University Hospital of Leicester, Dr Mohamed splits his time between clinical training at the hospital and academic research at the University of Leicester.

Having graduated from RCSI Bahrain with an honours degree in medicine, Dr Mohamed joined the Malta Foundation Programme, a two-year, UK-affiliated internship, before being accepted into internal medicine training in the UK. He has been in his current role since August 2016.
