Australian Open men’s and women's final 2017
The Australian Open will have the climax fans craved after Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer both came through five-set thrillers to reach the final. Nadal holds a 6-2 advantage over Federer in Grand Slam finals where they have played each other, although Federer won the last meeting between the pair in 2015.
With the Williams sisters in the women’s final both showpiece matches in Melbourne are a repeat of the Wimbledon finals of 2008, and for the first time in the Open era all four singles finalists are over the age of 30.
Venus and Serena Williams will contest their ninth Grand Slam final in Melbourne. A win for Serena will regain World No. 1 status and a record 23rd major title, while Venus’ remarkable resurgence is rewarded with her first major final since Wimbledon in 2009. Serena holds a 6-2 advantage over her elder sister in Grand Slam finals where they have played each other.
