Public sector employees to get increment

ManamaHis Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has directed to disburse the annual increment of public sector employees, which was suspended earlier.

The decision is in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa that rationalisation of expenditure should be based on consensus between the executive and legislative.

Earlier, all annual bonuses of public sector employees were suspended as per a circular, issued by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Financial Affairs and Rationalising Expenditure Ministerial Committee Head Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

The circular, which excluded military personnel, had mentioned that the decision to suspend the bonus was due to financial crisis, which resulted in state revenues reduction due to oil price drop. The decision had created a wave of public resentment and pushed the country’s representatives to hold an extraordinary meeting.
