Two men confess to money exchange robbery

Manama : Two men, who were arrested in connection with the money exchange robbery at Umm Al Hassam on Monday have confessed the crime, according to Ahmed Al Buainain, Capital Governorate Chief Prosecutor. 

The Public Prosecution has ordered to detain the suspects for further investigations.

According to sources, the two robbers who are European nationals used tasers, which can cause temporary paralysis on firing, for the act. They also rented a vehicle with forged number plates to escape from the heist site.

A statement issued by the Capital Governorate Chief Prosecutor explained that the robbers entered the money exchange branch with their faces covered and threatened the employees using taser guns.

“The robbery was quick, done within a minute”, said a witness.

According to sources, close to BD3000 was robbed from the money exchange branch at Umm Al Hassam on January 16. The robbery took place in broad daylight in one of the busiest roads in Umm Al Hassam. 

The robbers were arrested within 48-hours after robbery.
