Reviving Heritage

Manama : Efforts to revive National heritage sports received a major boost yesterday with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa affirming full support.

HM the King was visiting the Bahrain Falcon and Hunting tournament being held at Al Sabkha area, near Bahrain International Endurance 
Village.

The tournament, which includes participants from all over GCC, comprises of Arabian horse racings, falcon and Saluki hunting competitions.

The event continues until mid-February and is being held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.

Earlier, HM King was received at the venue by Shaikh Nasser, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of West Asian Nations Athletics, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Environment, President of the Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation.

HM the King, after watching the tournament, met with a number of the participants. 

Highlighting the role of Shaikh Nasser in reviving and preserving the national heritage, King Hamad said Shaikh Nasser’s efforts in promoting  heritage games is also encouraging Bahraini youth to participate in them.

HM the King also said, “The wide participation of GCC falcon owners in the tournament and their keenness to support make events like this a
huge success.” 

On the occasion, Shaikh Nasser expressed his appreciation to HM the King and vowed to continue working to revive the
sport.
