Europeans arrested in Bahrain exchange house robbery

Manama : Two European men suspected of robbing around BD3,000 from a money exchange in Um Al Hassam have been arrested within 48 hours of committing the crime.

“An investigation led to the identification of the two suspects and the money they had robbed was seized at the time of their arrest,” the Director-General of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science said.

“The duo covered their faces during the robbery, and used electrically-operated weapons,” the director  said adding that legal action was being taken to refer the case to the Public Prosecutor.

According to sources, close to BD3000 was robbed from the money Exchange branch at Umm Al Hassam on January 16.

“The men entered the shop dressed in winter clothes but nobody on the streets noticed it. One of the employees at the exchange house told me they showed up wearing hoodie jackets and masks. A commotion was heard as soon as they entered. The robbery was quick, done within a minute. The men ran out with the money, they did not use any vehicles for their escape. They took around BD3000 from the drawer," a source had said.

A business owner of a nearby shop claimed that the CCTV from his shop captured the men entering and exiting the exchange house.
