Military training; Court upholds sentence
Manama : Five defendants implicated in receiving military training in Iraq have had their jail sentences confirmed in absentia by the Supreme Appeals Court.
The convicts were earlier handed down 5 years behind bars each.
According to court files, the fourth and fifth defendants recruited the first, second and third defendants and facilitated their travel to Iraq, where they received the training.
However, only the first and second defendants are in police custody, as their other co-defendants are still at large, believed to be in Iraq.
The third defendant is reported to have also fled Bahrain, according to court documents.
