Policemen acquitted from inmate torture case

ManamaFive police officers accused of torturing an inmate in Jaw Prison have been acquitted by the High Criminal Appeals Court. 

Earlier the High Criminal Court dropped the charges against the officers saying that the provided evidences were not sufficient to hold the defendants guilty.

The five police officers were referred for trial after the inmate claimed that they had physically abused him on seven occasions. He accused the officers of beating him using hose and keys. He also alleged that they forced him to wash his nose using toilet water after it began bleeding.

The High Criminal Court said that the provided evidences were not sufficient to hold the defendants guilty.
