Jail attack: Top officials suspended
Manama : Three days after armed gunmen attacked the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre ‘Jau’ leaving a policeman killed and another wounded, the Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa has suspended three top officials of the prison.
General Director of the Reformation and Rehabilitation, Head of Reformation and Rehabilitation (Jau) and Director of Security and Protection are the suspended officials.
All the three the officials of the prison have been referred to the Public Prosecution affiliated to the Courts Directorate of the Interior Ministry, the minister said in a statement. On Sunday, gunmen attacked ‘Jau’ prison south of the capital, killing a policeman and allowing 10 inmates to escape . “The suspension of the jail officials was part of the recommendations of an investigation committee formed by the Interior Minister to investigate the circumstances that led to the terrorist attack on the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre “Jau” on the January 1, 2017,” the minister said.
