Murder of woman; Investigation underway

Manama : A murder investigation is underway after a woman was shot to death in Riffa, announced Chief of Military Judiciary Brigadier Dr. Yussef Rashid Flaifel in a statement yesterday.  The case is being investigated by the Military Prosecution.

Eman Ghuloom Salehi was reportedly shot in the head in front of her 6-year-old son on Noon Highway in Riffa on December 23 by a man serving in Bahrain Defence Force (BDF).

“Military Prosecution launched the investigation as soon as it was notified of the incident. The body of the victim was examined by forensic experts and a coroner to determine the cause of the death,” according to the statement.  

The Chief of the Military Judiciary said the Military Prosecution questioned the suspect in the presence of his lawyer and listened to the eyewitnesses’ testimonies. Subsequently, it ordered the suspect be remanded in custody pending further investigations. 

“The victim’s family were notified on the day of the incident about all legal procedures to be taken in relation to the case and was told that they would be officially summoned by the Military Prosecution at a later stage,” the statement read.

“The case will be referred to the specialised Military Court after the investigation is completed,” the statement concluded.
