177 illegal taxis caught in Bahrain
Manama : A total of 177 illegal taxis have been caught by the General Directorate of Traffic today and referred to the Public Prosecution. Deputy General Director announced that the department continues to hold campaigns to stop illegal taxis drivers from effecting the livelihoods of licensed taxi drivers.
He said that the department will continue to tackle traffic violations through awareness campaigns in all the governorates, including the locations of taxi drivers, markets and shopping malls in cooperation with concerned departments, such as the Bahrain International Airport, and officials at parking lots of hotels and commercial malls. Meanwhile the traffic patrols will continue to monitor wrong traffic practices. He called upon the public to stop dealing with illegal taxi drivers.
