Philippine Embassy to host ASEAN badminton games

ManamaThe Philippine Embassy in cooperation with the Filipino community in Bahrain hosted the First ASEAN Badminton Fun Games yesterday at Muharraq Sports Club.

Sixty four (64) players from various ASEAN Communities from the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, and Malaysia participated in the activity.

This Badminton event is part of the series “ASEAN Games 2016” played between and among the five ASEAN member states that have missions in the Kingdom.

Prior to this event, the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam organised the Second ASEAN Bowling Fun Games held on 22 September 2016 at Funland Bowling Centre. The other sporting events scheduled to be held this year include, Table Tennis, Volleyball, and Football.

The Royal Thai Embassy, the Fifth ASEAN member-state did not participate in the Badminton event as they are in a state of mourning due to the death of King Bhumibo Adulyadej.
