DIWALI MELA 2016 

Diwali Mela 2016, connecting people in this festive season, is presented by Expert Group Events today at Adhari Park Tubli. The programme which includes variety of entertainments and raffle draw will commence at 4pm. Entry is free. Competitions in Group Dance and Solo Dance, Diwali Sweets, Rangoli, Diwali Lantern, Diwali Greeting, Diwali Diya decoration, Pooja Thali decoration, Best Stall Decoration are added attractions. 

 

ASEAN BADMINTON FUN GAMES 

The Philippine Embassy in cooperation with the Filipino community in the Kingdom of Bahrain will be hosting the First ASEAN Badminton Fun Games today at the Muharraq Sports Club from 12:30 P.M to 8:00 P.M.

The event will be participated by 64 players from various ASEAN Communities of the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

The Badminton event is part of the series ASEAN Games 2016 to be played between and among the five ASEAN member states that have missions in the Kingdom. Prior to this event, the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam organized the 2nd  ASEAN Bowling Fun Games held on 22 September 2016 at Funland Bowling Center. The other sporting events scheduled to be held this year include, Table Tennis, Volleyball, and Football.

The Royal Thai Embassy, the 5th ASEAN member-state represented in Bahrain unfortunately could not participate in the Badminton event as they are in a state of mourning due to the untimely passing of their King, His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej, who passed away on 13 October 2016.

The Philippines, which will formally assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2017, is the organizing committee of the Badminton event under the patronage of Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa . ASEAN Communities are invited to attend the event. 

 

IGN CONVENTION BAHRAIN 2016 

IGN Convention, an international exhibition specialized in gaming, movies and comic books is coming back to Bahrain for the 4th time in a row.

Tarteeb Events Organizing and IGN Entertainment will host the exhibition between the 21st and 22nd of October at the Bahrain International Circuit. The previous 3 editions of the convention were attended by many international celebrities, including Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, who played The Mountain on the popular television series, the Game of Thrones, Julia Voth, known for her role as Jill Valentine in the Resident Evil video games and the wrestling legend Booker T – famed for being one of the biggest stars of WWE.

Tarteeb and IGN Middle East have announced a number of interesting and fun competitions for this years editions including a Cosplay contest. Video games tournaments for FIFA, Mortal Kombat and Call of Duty are also on the agenda.

ENTRANCE EXAMS SEMINAR 

Indian Youth Cultural Congress (IYCC) Salmaniya area committee is conducting a seminar on ‘Entrance exams and expatriate students’ in collaboration with the Excellent Education Centre. The seminar will be hosted in Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam hall and will take place on Friday, October 21 at 3 pm, exclusively for CBSE students from classes 9 to 12. Along with Bahrain’s important professors and lecturers, P.C Thomas, who is also known as the entrance guru, will be taking classes on this particular day. The seminar will mainly focus on how to prepare for medical and engineering entrance exams. HINDUSTANI VOCAL AND FLUTE JUGALBANDI

Indian Fine Arts Society is to present a Hindustani Vocal and Flute Jugalbandi by Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi and Pandit Pravin Godkhindi as part of its ‘Bharat Sangeet Utsav’, celebrating 70th year of India’s independence.

The event will be held at the Bahrain Society of Engineers auditorium on 21st October at 6.30 pm.

Recipient of the ‘Swar Bhaskar Puraskar’ Pandit Mevundi is known for the ease and felicity of his singing style. A vocalist par excellence from the Kirana Gharana , he trained initially under Sangeet Ratna Pandit Arjunsa Nakod and honed his skills under Pandit Shripati Padegar, a disciple of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.

Pandit Pravin Godkhindi, recipient of the title ‘Suramani’ at a young age 

of sixteen, is an an “A-top” grade artist of All India Radio. He formally trained under his father Pandit Venkatesh Godkhindi, an A-grade artist and a Bansuri maesto himself. He is the first Indian to perform on the 8-feet contrabass flute. He has performed with veteran musicians and has composed music for several popular films, dance ballets and drama.
