Iranian Parliament’s hostile remarks slammed by MPs

Manama : Bahraini lawmakers have taken a potshot at the recent hostile statements made by the Iranian Parliament against the Kingdom.

Commenting on Bahrain’s decision to revoke the citizenship of controversial cleric Isa Qassim for his involvement in illegal activities, the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) claimed in a statement that “this would spark a popular revolution in Bahrain”.

Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Parliamentary Committee Members Jamal Buhassan and Abdulrahman Bumjaid denounced the Iranian statements, which threatened Bahrain of sparking a “revolution” in it.

They termed it as a blatant interference in Bahrain’s internal affairs and a threat to its sovereignty.

Buhassan, who’s also the General Secretary of the Arab and Gulf Initiative to Combat the Iranian Threats to the Region, called on the representatives of the people of Iran to “solve the key issues that are facing by their people instead of interfering in the Bahraini affairs.”

The MP also requested the Arab League, Gulf Cooperation Council, Muslim World League and international organisations to denounce the statement.

According to Bumjaid, the statement incites terrorism and violence.

“The Iranian MPs should focus on lifting their regime’s oppression of the people. They are suffering from unjust, poverty, sectarian executions and systematic torture,” he pointed out.

He also noted the human rights record of the Iranian regime, which has committed many violations.

Bumjaid called for unifying efforts to put an end to the repeated interferences of Iran into the domestic affairs of regional countries, especially Bahrain.
