Four face trial in Bahrain cop’s murder
Manama : Four men arrested in connection with the murder of a police officer had formed a terrorist cell, it has emerged.
Thirteen defendants have been charged with the murder of police officer Mohammed Tanweer and attempt to kill two others in a firebomb attack in Karbabad.
During the trial in the High Criminal Court yesterday, it was revealed that the four accused had created a terrorist cell and recruited others in it. They carried out the attack against the police officers on April 16 this year.
According to court files, the terrorist cell was formed to carry out terrorist attacks across Bahrain, targeting police officers and vital landmarks in the country.
It’s worth noting that only 11 of the accused are in police custody as the remaining two are still at large. Investigations are on to arrest the fugitives.
