Stranded expat to go home

ManamaAuthorities have come forward to the rescue of an Indian expatriate, who had been stranded in the Kingdom for 10 years without a valid visa.

Following the reports that an Indian expat, Balraj Mudah, is desperate to go back home, officials confirmed yesterday that they would provide necessary assistance for his journey.

Mudah, who came to Bahrain on a visit visa, overstayed in the country for nearly 10 years.

On August 27, DT News reported that Mudah came to Bahrain with the help of an agent. He was living in the Kingdom by doing odd jobs. He has frequently fallen ill in recent years and is desperate to reunite with his family.

On August 26, Mudah visited the Indian Embassy Open House to seek help to return to his home country.

The authorities said Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs had been collaborating with the Indian Embassy to assist Mudah.

In a letter sent to DT News yesterday, authorities stated: “According to Assistant Undersecretary for Ports, Search and Follow-up at the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), Mudah was contacted by the Indian Embassy. Embassy officials held a meeting with NPRA head office to discuss his legal status and the necessary paperwork is being done to enable him to travel to India.”

The Assistant Under-secretary said that the NPRA was keen to serve people, especially humanitarian cases that required extraordinary action.

He also said that comments and complaints could be lodged through the website www.npra.gov.bh

People can also call the Public Relations and Media Department on 17399764 or visit the NPRA offices in Manama.

The official assured that all cases received by the NPRA are looked into and referred to the departments concerned for necessary action.
