Bahraini tries to frame his aunt in drug peddling case
Manama : A Bahraini man accused of peddling and consuming drugs attempted to frame his aunt.
According to court files, the defendant was nabbed after the anti-narcotic department at the Ministry of Interior received a tip-off.
While inspecting the man’s car, the police found drugs hidden inside a bag.
However, in order to escape the man started spinning a web of lies and passed the blame on to his aunt.
He said the vehicle belonged to her and that he was not aware of the bag.
But the prosecutors have discredited his claims and put him on trial. The first hearing was conducted yesterday.
He admitted to consuming drugs, but dismissed the accusation of peddling.
A remand judge ordered him to be detained in police custody, while his trial was adjourned until October 4 for review.
