Hatim & his Harley

Manama : “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

- Paulo Coelho

Inspiring, isn’t it? If then, get ready to spend some time with Hatim Saif.

As he too speaks about following dreams, understanding soul’s desire and finding the connection with the universe. But he does it all on a bike.

According to Hatim, when a biker sits on his bike, he actually follows his joy and passion.

For him, the world is simply a long road ahead with all its treacherous twists and turns, waiting to be explored.

But it might be a fallacy to assume that it is this thrill that always guides him in his rides.

Besides discovering new areas and imbibing unknown cultures, the ride, according to Hatim Saif, also gives him the priceless opportunity to grow the feeling of kinship.

DT News caught up with Hatim Saif, who has been riding for more than 10 years in Bahrain.

According to Hatim Saif, there hasn’t been a single day in his life where he was bored of bikes and rides.

And all that started back in 2007 when he got his first machine, a Yamaha 650cc, 1999 Classic Standard Chopper.

“It was a winter, with me and my bike both experiencing the same chill,” Saif said, who has now come a long way around and is now part of a group known as Bahrain Desi Riders

“I am a member of Harley Davidson Owners Group, Bahrain and owns a Harley Davidson 2006 Dyna Street Bob,” he said.

Dyna, however, is more handsome now after several custom modifications. No wonder, both the owner and the bike receive frequent calls for bike shows and apparel modelling.

“I had changed it completely with customized frame. Added Buell sports Alloy wheel with front fork along the handle bar. Altered headlight and fitted extra performance hyper charger with Supertrapp performance exhaust.”

When asked about his riding experience with the group, Hatim said this way he learned about brotherhood and respect.

“I have done a 24-hour ride with my buddies known as Bahrain Desi Riders. Along with HOG members, I have done close to 12 hours ride.”

“I am really looking forward for long rides every year. I always wanted to go to the outskirts of GCC with my mates,” added
Hatim.

Safety first

When it comes to drives, safety is the first priority for Desi Riders. Regular checkups are carried out at the start of every ride.

“First we look for leakages, breaks and then air pressure.  We also make sure that our riding gears are in top condition and that all parts run smooth,” Hatim said.

“The next thing is avoiding roads with heavy traffic.”

“We prefer longs routes such as highways which is quite common in Bahrain.

When asked about adversities he said, “Accidents do happen and every rider has to go through his hard days.

“Accidents happen because of own our fault or sometimes because of others. Till now, I haven’t met with any thing major.

“But I do remember having minor injuries when I fell at Durrat Al Bahrain road. The road was under construction and there was no ample street light.

That’s why I always insist on safety checks and the need to follow traffic rules,” Hatim said.
