Trial adjourned to October in drug peddling case

ManamaThe trial of a man arrested for bartering drugs for gold pieces was adjourned until October 4.

The 53-year-old Pakistani man was caught after the anti-narcotic department in the Ministry of Interior received a tip-off about his illegal activities.

After obtaining an arrest warrant, the police inspected his home and seized a bag full of heroin from the place.

The investigators also found BD1060 and SAR1000 in cash.

The search also resulted in recovering several gold pieces, including four bracelets, two rings and two earrings, all of which are thought to have been exchanged for illicit drugs.

The man has been ordered to be kept in police custody, and he appeared before the High Criminal Court for the first time yesterday.

The trial was adjourned after he pleaded not guilty.
