Mission with a Vision

The American Mission Hospital will open four new medical centres in the Kingdom in next three years.

In a press briefing yesterday, CEO Dr. George Cheriyan said the facilities will be in Saar, Riffa, Juffair and Hamad Town.  While commenting on the economic situation in Bahrain and the region, he said this would hardly affect the hospital’s expansion plans as their motive is not profit.

“AMH can continue to invest heavily regardless of the economic condition because the motive is not profit,” he said.

“There are economic challenges in Bahrain and this region as a whole because of the oil prices. Despite what is happening in the economy, AMH is investing heavily. We are modernising and taking on healthcare in a big way,” he added. AMH has been providing healthcare in Bahrain for over a hundred years in a non-profit setting.

First in Saar

Revealing more, Dr. Cheriyan said the hospital will open its first facility in Saar.

The Saar facility will be opened in October, bringing an end to AMH’s 16-year-old Clinic there.

AMH has been serving the community of Saar and Budaiya through its Saar clinic. Over this time, the clinic has provided ambulatory care services to thousands of patients both young and old.

Dr. Cheriyan said the hospital has been searching for a location to set up a state of the art facility that would not take away the feel of a family centred clinic that has all the facilities required for ambulatory care under one roof.

“This dream has been realised with the soon to open facility with easy access, ample parking with both radiology and laboratory facilities,” he added. The clinic is located on Saar Avenue near Al Osra just to the side and behind the mosque on Saar avenue.

“We are expecting to open the facility by the beginning of October and to be open for 24 hours by the beginning of 2017,” he said.

Riffa, Juffair, Hamad Town

Next project will be in Riffa. This facility will be completed by mid 2017.

“It is the vision of the board of directors to expand our care into the communities of Bahrain, and in keeping with this vision a new ambulatory care facility will open in Riffa by the middle of 2017, followed by another centre in Juffair in 2018 and followed by a facility in Hamad town the following year,” he said.

“The centre in Saar will include a dialysis unit but the one in Riffa is going to be bigger.

“What is going to be unique about the Riffa centre is that it will include a dedicated high-end physiotherapy unit and a hydrotherapy pool.

“All of the clinics that we are opening across Bahrain will have at least one unique specialty. As we expand we will focus on areas where people actually need care,” he said.
