Security official closes hacked social media page
Manama : Deputy Public Security Chief Brigadier Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa shut down his personal account on Instagram, a few days after it was hacked.
Shaikh Khalifa, who is active on social media networks, said, “I have decided to permanently close my account today.”
“I thank my dear followers for their constant support. I will continue serving our beloved Kingdom following the instructions of our Wise Leadership,” he said in his final Instagram post.
DT News earlier reported that Shaikh Khalifa’s Instagram account was hacked on Wednesday.
Later, Anti-corruption and Economic & Electronic Security General Director announced that the security official’s personal account was recovered within hours of its being hacked, according to a statement issued by the Interior Ministry.
Some insulting and sectarian material was apparently posted on the hacked account.
The General Director denied that Shaikh Khalifa had written the posts about any sect, adding that legal steps will be taken in this regard.
