Police officer injuring case adjourned to September

ManamaThe High Criminal Court adjourned the case of a man accused of injuring a police officer until September 4 to assign a lawyer for him.

The incident occurred at a police checkpoint, where the officer was with other cops checking the identity of motorcyclists in search of wanted fugitives.

While passing through the checkpoint, the victim stopped the defendant’s car for inspection. After verifying his identity with the concerned authorities, the cop found that the man was wanted in connection with a terrorist case.

When the officer asked the defendant to get out of his car, the latter immediately hit the fuel pedal and fled the scene.

The car’s tyres ran over the victim’s right leg, causing severe injuries, according to court files.

The defendant was eventually arrested and charged with attacking on-duty police officer.
