Defaming HM King through social media trio’s detention extended

ManamaThe High Criminal Court extended the remand of three men accused of defaming HM the King and instigating hatred against the regime by 15 days each.

The trio are said to have been publishing anti-government posts on Twitter

The first defendant, aged 36, reportedly created an account holding the name @bahrainwar. He posted tweets that called on the public to demonstrate and protest against the leadership.

The 28-year-old second defendant, meanwhile, claimed that internet was disabled in the village of Duraz based on orders from the Ministry of Interior.

He reportedly established a Twitter account holding the name of a local telecommunication company. It was discovered that he was working in the same company and he had wanted to spread false news, the court files said.
