Two Europeans arrested in ATM fraud case
Manama : Two Bulgarians were arrested for installing a card skimmer device in an ATM in Juffair to steal customers’ information. The skimmer was found by a Bahrain resident, who recorded a video for removing the device from the ATM located near Al Jazeera Supermarket in Juffair.
The defendants were arrested after police authorities reviewed the ATM’s CCTVs, which also captured their car.
They were presented before the High Criminal Court yesterday. According to court files, one of the defendants was arrested while he was attempting to leave Bahrain, while the other suspect was arrested from a local hotel.
During interrogations, one of them revealed that they had come to Bahrain to spend their holiday. His co-suspect, however, refused to answer any of the questions by Prosecutors. The Bulgarian men are facing charges of forgery and attempt to steal bank users’ information.
