Asian man's detention renewed in fraud case
Manama : The High Criminal Court has renewed the detention of an Asian man accused of fraud by another 15 days.
According to the case, the accused was given BD630 by a family here to appoint a domestic maid from India. But he failed to fulfil the promise and kept the money with him.
In the court yesterday, he admitted to receiving the money. But he claimed that he had sent it to a manpower office in India, and they didn’t respond to his calls.
“After sending the money to the office in India, I tried to communicate with them. But nobody attended my calls. Then I gave up contacting them,” the defendant told the court. He was ordered to be remanded for 15 days, pending investigations.
