BD400 stolen from expat’s villa in Um Al Hassam area

ManamaBurglars broke into the villa of an Indian family in Um Al Hassam and stole BD 400 on Friday evening. The family members were away when the theft took place. Meanwhile, the thieves, who entered the house by breaking down the back door of the villa, could not steal anything valuable from the house. After the theft, they escaped through the same route.

According to the victims, the burglars had forcefully opened their safe as well as their cupboard in search for valuables.

Passports belonging to the family members were seen thrown out of the safe. “The thieves made a mess. When we came back, we found our passports and documents lying on the floor, “ said the house owner, Siddiq, who is a businessman.

He said that part of the BD 400 was stolen from his shirt’s pocket while the rest of the money was stolen from a cupboard.

The family left the house at 5.20pm and came back at 8pm. The villa is situated in a compound where there are six villas and with security guards working around the clock.

“At 6pm our gardener had come to work but he did not notice anything unusual. We contacted the police as soon as we noticed the burglary. They searched the whole place for fingerprints,” Siddiq added. Investigations are on.
