Asian, three woman arrested for online drug sale

Manama : A four-member drug racket that allegedly promotes drugs sale on WhatsApp has been busted by the police in a sting operation. The ring includes an Asian national man and three women. 

According to the court files, two women and the man admitted to consuming illegal drugs in their first appearance before the High Criminal Court, but they rejected the accusation of promoting drugs in Bahrain. However, the third woman turned down both accusations. 

The suspects are believed to have been engaged in smuggling shabu into Bahrain and then distribute it to consumers. 

Acting on a tip-off, the police officers carried out a sting operation in which an undercover police officer lured the man into selling BD500 of shabu to him. As soon as he handed over the drugs to the officer, the police pounced on him. 

Later, during a raid in the man’s house, a Thai woman (the second defendant) was found in a hysterical state in a room. She showed symptoms of drug consumption. 

The police also found a garage at the home where bags of shabu were stashed. The man told police officers that he had got the drugs from a woman (the first defendant), who usually communicates with him on WhatsApp. 

She was also arrested along with another woman (the fourth defendant) following police investigations. Interestingly, the ring was using women’s handbags to distribute drugs. 

They were mainly active in Adliya. They stash drugs inside the bags and then leave them in random places for the customers to handpick them after they receive the payments.
