BD12 million transactions via eChannel

ManamaFinancial transactions exceeding BD12 million were made through eGovernment channels from January 2016 to June end, announced Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) yesterday. This is an increase of 45 per cent from the first half of 2015.

The authority also recorded a 67pc surge in the number of transactions made during the period to 200,000.

This according to iGA Strategy & eBusiness Process Re-engineering Director Nezar Maroof reflects on the authority’s success in promoting the culture of electronic direction for users and the highest-level of security provided.

Water bill tops

‘Pay Electricity & Water Bill’ service emerged as the most favoured on the list of higher-value services in payments.

Usage nearly tripled to 18,000, which also exceeds BD1m in terms of value, when compared to the prior year period. Average monthly transactions were 2977, with June turning out as the busiest. The increase was attributed to the number of newly added services to the Electricity & Water Services mobile application. This includes ‘Quick Payment’ for electricity and water bills for any account users who prefer to electronically pay their bills.

In terms of eServices, ‘Sijilat’ generated the second highest traffic through the national portal bahrain.bh. Closely following is the ‘UoB Fees Payment’ service.

The ePayment services are available over various authority channels including the national portal bahrain.bh, eGovernment Apps Store bahrain.bh/apps, and eKiosks together with the National Contact Center (8000 8001).
