MPs, politicians laud security authorities

Manama : Bahrain's Interior Ministry received a pat on its back for its efforts in arresting members of a terrorist cell on Thursday.

Parliament members lauded Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and extended gratitude to the brave security personnel for their high competence, with calls for inflicting the toughest punishment against those found guilty.

They asserted that terrorists did not take the precepts of the Islamic religion into account, stressing that investigations had revealed Iran’s persistence in carrying out  attacks in the Kingdom, and using violence and terrorism to achieve its expansionist ambitions.

MPs affirmed that the Council of Representatives will support the anti-terror authorities in using laws to deter saboteurs. 

They also called on the citizens and residents to cooperate with the security personnel for the sake of safeguarding the Kingdom.

The MPs were commenting on a statement issued yesterday by the parliamentary “National Partnership” Bloc chaired by MP Hamad Al Dossary and includes member MPs Jamal Buhassan, Adel Hameed, Jameela Al Sammak, Majeed Al Asfoor, Jalal Kadhem, Nasser Al Qasseer, Ghazi Al Rahma and Majid Al Majid.

The bloc lauded the efforts of the Interior Minister and the security personnel for their success in seizing bomb-making materials and weapons after arresting five individuals, who were found to be planning bombings in more than one location in Bahrain.

The statement praised the steps taken by the Interior Ministry, which led to discovery of bomb-making materials.

The arrestees’ confession to having received intensive military training in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Iraqi Hezbollah camps is yet another evidence of Iran’s continuous efforts to carry out terrorist attacks aimed at disrupting security and stability in the Kingdom, the bloc said.

The bloc explained that Iran had carried on with its interference contrary to the good neighbourly principles, used violence and terrorism to achieve its external ambitions, targeted the brave policemen and terrorised innocent citizens and residents.

Iran’s activities also breached the precepts of the Islamic Religion, the bloc said in its statement, noting that the arrestees did not respect their Bahraini citizenship, and sought foreign support to carry out terrorist attacks aimed at subverting the security of the
Kingdom.

The bloc affirmed that all terrorist plots will be thwarted and that Bahrain will remain a symbol of prosperity under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Pre-emptive steps hailed

A number of key politicians also hailed the pre-emptive steps, which they said, has proved anew the vigilance and capability of the security personnel in safeguarding the nation.

Chairman of the gathering of National Unity, Shaikh Abdullatif Al-Mahmood asserted that pre-emptive steps had foiled the terrorist plans that could have claimed innocent lives. 

He also called upon the misled youth to ignore the calls of terrorists who are seeking to cheat them through their erroneous ideology.

Psychological Consultant to the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowment Dr. Adulla Al-Maqabi asserted that the security authorities are the protective shield of the nation, noting that their busting of the terrorist cell indicates that the arm of the law will reach terrorists and criminals wherever they are.

Meanwhile, Parliament Second Deputy Speaker Shaikh Abdulhaleem Murad called for the need to refer the arrestees to trial as soon as possible, and inflict maximum penalty on them to protect society and deter whoever seeks to destabilise the nation.

Political Bureau of the National Action Charter Society chairman Ahmed Juma commended the performance of the security personnel and authorities in thwarting the terrorist attacks, noting that the success of the plan adds to the success of the Interior Ministry.

He said that hysteria in Iran is at its peak as its plans had been exposed following the success of Bahrain in arresting its aides and bringing them to justice.

He affirmed that Bahrain will overcome all challenges and fend off threats to its security, thanks to the vigilance of the brave security personnel, and supported by the leadership.
