Bahrain rubbish ban on Friday prayers rumours
Manama : Rumours accusing the Interior Ministry of preventing worshippers from performing Friday prayers in Deraz village were denied yesterday.
The General Director of Northern Governorate Police confirmed the rumours were false.
“The prayers were conducted as usual. Security procedures in the area have been ramped up owing to the illegal gathering inside the village,” said a ministry statement.
“The General Director informed that legal measures will be taken against rumour mongers, who try to disrupt general order. Police presence is palpable at mosques in all areas of Bahrain to protect the places of worship.
“Any information regarding suspicious activity can be reported to the police hotline at 80008008,” it added.
