Fit "n" fab mommy

ManamaThis is Maria Azrak. Do not get deceived by her looks, she is no college student. She is, in fact, mother of two smart and beautiful children. Through constant workout sessions, she manages to stay young and charming, and perhaps her story would inspire many more to stay fit.  

She left her well-paid job as a product specialist when she got married and decided to raise her children.  As fitness always remained a hidden passion for her, she spent her leisure for various such activities. Eventually, the hobby turned into a career as she certified as a personal trainer and Zumba instructor from renowned international organisations such as Les Mill and AFFA.

Separately, she did freelance work as a fitness instructor in reputed ladies clubs. 

“My family always comes first and it gives great meaning to my life. And that’s one of the main reasons that made me what I am right now. Although fitness domain was quite far from my academic background, my passion for it drove me to getting certified in a relatively short period. Since then I started getting calls and requests from people, which kept me busy,” she said. 

Maria recalled that it was in 2005 when she made baby steps into the fitness career. Seeing her fantastic progress in workouts, one of her friends, who owns a gym, requested her to design a freestyle class for the gym members. 

Then, there was no looking back for her. 

Zumba instructing helped her participate in many charity events to motivate people to have fun for a great cause.

Last year Maria became part of a great Zumba event, in cooperation with Think Pink. The event was a grand success and she, along with a fellow instructor, was able to collect a good amount for breast cancer victims. 

“It’s all about helping people find their inner power and motivating them to believing that they can do a lot more than what they think. When I see them smiling after achieving the desirable results, it gives me a great feeling of achievement and satisfaction,” she said.

She added, “My days are wonderful when my clients send me a “thank you” message or express to me “how grateful they are for what I do for them.”

“Strong and determined women, who work to achieve their goals inspire me,” she added. 

“I am always eager and excited to challenge myself to become fitter and stronger. At the moment, I am working on doing handstands. Next step would be a course in Pilates or Nutrition, which will take place in the near future,” she concluded.
