Dubai expat businessman shot dead in car

Dubai : A Turkish real estate investor was shot dead inside his car in Dubai last week by killers hired by a man who live outside the UAE and wanted to settle scores with the victim, Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief was reported on Wednesday as saying.

Major-General Khamis Al Mazinah said the killers used Russian and Austrian made guns to assassinate the Turk while in his car at a park in Marina area last Wednesday.

“The mastermind of this murder lives outside the UAE and wanted to settle scores with the victim over alleged crime…our investigators have gathered enough information about this murder but the delay in the report about the crime allowed the killers to flee the country,” he said, quoted by Emarat Alyoum daily.

He said police had managed to identify all the killers, including an Iranian and Canadians of Colombian and Indian origins.

“We have prepared a record on the murder supported with documents and photographs…it will be sent to the Canadian authorities through the UAE interior ministry…we will not let the killers get away with it and will do our best to track them down and bring them to justice.”

The paper quoted security sources as saying the assassins used silencers in their guns to kill the Turk, who is of Iranian origin.

They said the building watchman found the Turk in a pool of blood inside his car, adding that the killers managed to escape because the crime was discovered late.
