Reece Bhave captures gold in Mini Olympics

Manama:  Reece Bhave raced to victory and the gold medal yesterday in the boys secondary stage aquathlon at the Third School Mini Olympics which featured competition for boys and girls and staged along the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain beach in the Seef area.

The British School runner completed the challenge, which featured a 300m swim followed by a 2km run in the Zallaq area, in first place clocking 16 minutes and 40 seconds, he was followed in second place by Fawaz (23:20) of Kanoo International School for the silver medal and Danyal Azhar (23:57) the bronze.

In the Intermediate stage event, which started with a 200m swim followed by a 1,500 run, Lam Marsha (7:33) of the British School finished first to win the competition’s gold and behind him were St. Christoper’s Brandon Marshal (8:24) for silver and Adham Juma (8:38) of the British School with bronze.

There was also a race for the girls intermediate stage, which was dominated by St Christopher’s School students who took all three positions.

Arbells Rashtom (10:29) showed skills and stamina to win gold, as she edged school mate Amalie Neilson (10:30) who took silver while Laura Adamson (11:07) rounded off the podium for bronze.

The day concluded with the winners receiving their medals from representatives of the Bahrain Olympic Committee who are organising the event with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education.
