Sports Federations urged to activate girls training centres

Manama: The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has urged four national sports federations to submit updates on the inauguration of their girls training centres.

Sports federations of table tennis, basketball, volleyball and handball were also requested to inform the committee with their scheduled training programmes that will take place in near future as well as the supervisors of their respective centres.

BOC’s Woman Sport Committee, headed by Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, has adopted the girls training programme in cooperation with the Education ministry in bid to develop women’s sports in the kingdom.

The ministry has allocated four sports halls within government schools from around the country to embrace this programme.

Schools include East Riffa Secondary Boys School (table tennis), Khawla Secondary Girls School (basketball), Hamad Town Secondary Boys School (volleyball), Ghazi Al Qusaibi Secondary Girls School (handball).

It’s worth noting that the Bahrain Olympic Committee pays significant attention to the girls training centres in an attempt to activate girls activities within national sports federations and expand its accomplished on the regional, continental and international levels.
